Doug McGinn is a Partner and Co-Founder of The Herald Group. A veteran of the political and public affairs arenas, Doug brings a range of unique insights gained from senior campaign, legislative and private-sector executive positions. Doug currently lends his strategic counsel to a number of today’s leading corporations and industry associations, particularly in the energy, health care and technology sectors.
Doug combines his legislative and public affairs experience to create customized campaigns to combat a host of clients’ high profile public policy and regulatory challenges. Doug specializes in helping organizations influence positive perceptions across key audiences to support strategic goals.
Prior to co-founding The Herald Group nearly 20 years ago, Doug led a practice area of a leading global public affairs firm where he oversaw many of its national and international accounts. From executive positioning and crisis communications to media relations and coalition development, he developed, managed and executed numerous award-winning strategic communications and marketing programs.
Doug also previously served on the executive team of Rainmaker Public Relations and was a communications director and senior advisor to three Members of Congress, as well as serving on the staffs of former U.S. Representative and Presidential candidate Jack Kemp and former U.S. Secretary of Education William Bennett at Empower America, a nonprofit policy organization. Doug holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas. He also was a Bryce Harlow Scholar as an MBA candidate at Johns Hopkins University.
