From Mongolia to THG: Meet Tselmuun, the Multitalented Finance Mind

We’re thrilled to welcome Tselmuun Zagdragchaa to The Herald Group! Originally from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia — the world’s coldest capital — Tselmuun now calls the D.C. area home and brings a wealth of accounting experience across multiple industries. She’s passionate about helping organizations make sense of their numbers and use that insight to grow. Outside of work, she’s always seeking new ways to express her creativity — from painting and cooking to her next goal: pottery.

We sat down with Tselmuun for a quick Q&A to get to know her better.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Hi! I’m Tselmuun Zagdragchaa. I was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and now live in the D.C. area. I’ve worked in accounting across various industries and am passionate about helping businesses understand their numbers and make informed decisions. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring my creativity and trying new things — pottery is next on my list!

What inspired you to pursue a career in accounting?

I’ve always enjoyed bringing structure to chaos and finding the “why” behind the numbers. Accounting lets me do that every day—helping teams stay grounded while supporting growth.

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned in your career?

That clear communication is just as important as accuracy. You can have the cleanest spreadsheets in the world, but if people don’t understand them, they’re not truly effective.

 What’s your favorite book?

Radical Candor by Kim Scott. I’m still reading it, but it’s already a refreshing and thought-provoking take on leadership and communication. I highly recommend it.

Outside of work, where would we find you? What are you passionate about?

You’d probably find me on a tennis court, experimenting with a new recipe, or painting. I’m passionate about creativity, wellness, and helping others feel confident—whether with their finances or their goals.

What attracted you to working at THG?

The strong culture and collaborative energy. THG struck me as a place where people are both excellent at what they do and genuinely supportive of one another.

What brought you to D.C.?

A mix of family and new opportunities. I was excited about the professional landscape here and the chance to grow while being part of a vibrant, diverse community.

We’re excited to have Tselmuun on the team — her thoughtful approach, attention to detail, and creative spirit are already making an impact!
