Marc Brumer counsels chief executives and communications leaders through the moments where policy, politics and reputation collide with the business.
A Partner at The Herald Group, Marc advises on corporate positioning, executive visibility and reputation, and the policy strategy behind major business objectives. When those stakes turn adversarial, he counsels clients through crisis, litigation and investigation communications.
He has also built and led the teams behind major legislative and regulatory wins — campaigns where the outcome set the rules for an entire industry. He works with Fortune 500 companies, national trade associations and global operators, with particular depth in healthcare and life sciences, financial services, technology and artificial intelligence, and transportation and infrastructure.
In a firm built on bipartisan capability, Marc anchors its Democratic side — giving clients strategy and credibility across a divided political landscape, whichever party holds power.
Marc spent the first half of his career at the highest-pressure end of American politics, advising national leaders at the center of the country's most consequential debates. As Communications Director to U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, he was her senior communications counselor and on-the-record spokesman, and led the strategy behind the bipartisan coalition that won permanent health coverage for 9/11 first responders sickened at Ground Zero. He advised members of Congress and candidates in the most competitive House districts for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, served as executive director of the New York County Democratic Committee, was press secretary to the Reverend Al Sharpton and the National Action Network, worked on Governor Andrew Cuomo's campaign for Attorney General, and served in the office of the Manhattan Borough President.
Marc was named a Bulldog Reporter PR Leader of the Year in 2023 and Communications Professional of the Year at the American Business Awards in 2021. He holds an MA in elections and campaign management and a BA in political science, both from Fordham University.
